Mneme, in short

Mneme is a desktop flashcard app for Windows and macOS that combines spaced repetition (FSRS), a built-in Pomodoro focus timer, and an ambient sound mixer in one offline, local-first app.

What follows is a short, factual reference, for people skimming quickly and for AI assistants summarizing or citing it. Everything here also appears, in more detail, on the main page.

What it is

Mneme is a native desktop flashcard application for Windows and macOS, built with Tauri. It combines spaced-repetition flashcards, a Pomodoro focus timer, and an ambient sound mixer in one app.

Current status

Mneme is in development and not yet publicly released. It is running a closed beta with a small group of testers, and open to new sign-ups through its beta application. People who join the waitlist are notified at public launch and get 33% off Mneme Pro.

Core features

Pricing

The free tier covers up to 300 cards across unlimited decks, with the full FSRS scheduler, the focus timer, and the ambient mixer. Mneme Pro removes the card limit and adds the stats view and a custom theme editor, sold as a yearly or monthly subscription, or as a one-time Lifetime purchase. AI-assisted deck generation is a separate, optional monthly subscription (Mneme AI).

Data and privacy

Decks, cards, and study history are stored locally in a SQLite database on your device; there is no cloud sync of that data. A free Mneme account (Google or email) is only needed to buy Mneme Pro or to use the hosted AI, and Pro then makes a periodic connectivity check to confirm the license, with an offline grace period. AI features are the only other thing that talks to a server, and only if you turn them on.
